Meet Stetson

Stetson is ready to share his story! ?

Every dog has their own story on how it ended up here. I would like to share my story with you this evening and hope you will consider adopting me. My story is about a pup who grew very big and loved his people very much. Unfortunately, that combination didn't quite work in a small apartment....but let me explain further.

When I was first welcomed home it was the happiest day of my life. My owners loved me and spent almost all their time with me. I wish they would have had a yard, but honestly, I was happy. As I grew, I went through my teenage stage. I know some dogs become aloof during this time, but I became more clingy. I loved my people and I loved spending time with them. But things changed. They started going back to work, and I started being left alone more and more. Some dogs may be able to handle this...but I was not one of them. I started panicking when my owners left home and it ended up being too much for them. They tried rehoming me but when no one took me, they were going to bring me to the shelter. They had a waitlist though, and they really needed me gone sooner. They were getting desperate to find a place for me sooner.

They tried filling out a surrender form with this rescue. They were hoping that someone could take me right away. Thankfully, my current foster family felt for me and my situation and took me in. I am now part of this fluffy butt family, and I am super excited to find my forever family. I was not meant to spend forever with my last family, but I hope that was because I am meant to spend forever with whoever welcomes me home. They may have not been ready for me when I was a pup, but hopefully, they are ready for a big ole polar bear now! ♥

My name is Stetson(so you know who to list on the adoption app ;) ) and I am a 12-month-old male Great Pyrenees. I weigh about 86lbs now. I was shaved down not too long ago, so my coat is not at full length currently.

I am on the search for my forever family. And when I say forever I mean forever. So, only consider adopting me if you can promise me forever NO MATTER WHAT! If you cannot, then please don't take me away from another family that can.

-How can someone adopt me?
The first step is to fill out an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to my foster family and they will help me decide if we are a match or not.

-Where are you being fostered?
I am being fostered in Skiatook, OK.

-Would I need to come to pick you up?
Yes, you would need to pick me up. This rescue does not send us on transports. It is less stress on us that way. Plus, you and I can already start bonding on the road trip home! ?

-Can I adopt you even though I don't live in Oklahoma?
Yep, I am not opposed to living in another state!

-How do you act when meeting new people?
Friendly.

-What is your personality like?
Very sweet and playful.

-Do you jump on people?
No.

-Do you enjoy going places?
I have not been to any but I think I would do well.

-Do you enjoy walks?
Yes.

-Are you leash trained?
Yes.

-How do you do on car rides?
I ride well.

-Can you be trusted with free-roam of the house when no one is home?
I am ok as long as I am in the heart of the house where I am used to hanging out and used to being with my people. If you leave the tv on and keep everything as close to normal as possible, I do fine. I am not ok with being put somewhere out of the ordinary like a crate or baby gated in another room.

-Where do you stay when no one is home?
In the living room. I have not been alone for more than an hour so far.

-Where do you sleep at night?
In my fosters bedroom.

-Are you a big chewer?
No.

-Are you potty trained?
Yes.

-Are you kennel trained?
I do not like the kennel.

-Do you like to play fetch?
No.

-Do you like to play in the water?
I love the water!

-Do you play with toys?
I love playing with toys!

-Would you do okay living in an apartment?
No.

-Are you a big barker?
I am not a big barker but will bark if I suspect something is amiss.

-Are you good with other dogs?
Yes.

-How do you act with other dogs around?
I love to play with other dogs.

-Do you need another dog in your new home?
Yes.

-Are you good with cats?
Yes.

-Are you good with kids?
I love kids and am very gentle with them.

-Have you shown any signs of food aggression with other animals?
No.

-Have you tried to resource guard anything?
No.

-Can I hear what your foster has to say about you?
"Stetson is an absolute sweetheart. He puts the gentle in gentle giant. He loves his people with his heart and soul and wants nothing more than to be with them. If he can’t be with them the puppy dog eyes come out and he drools almost as if he is crying tears. He definitely knows how to pull at the heartstrings. When you adopt Stetson you will definitely be bringing home your best friend for life ??"

-What are you looking for in your new family?

I am looking for a family that has at least one other dog to keep me company. I do excessively drool when I am separated from my people. Like my foster mentioned, it is almost like I am crying. As soon as I am back with my people, I am one of the happiest boys around and I stop drooling! The other dogs really help me feel secure and okay when my people leave. But I would still absolutely LOVE it if my new family worked from home or were home most of the day. You will not find a more lovable and loyal dog than me! ♥

-How much is your adoption fee?
My adoption fee is $225.

That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
