Meet Sterling
Oh Sterling. This little guy has quite the history with Foothills Humane Society. He was found as a stray back in November 2020 wearing an Adidas tracksuit but unfortunately no owner came forward to claim him. Personality wise, 7 year old Sterling is a hoot! He is a typical Jack Russell Terrier. He LOVES to snuggle and be in your lap. He is very sociable with people and can be somewhat demanding if he is not getting what he wants. If he wants in your lap he will jump up at your side until you let him up! He loves squeaky toys and will bury them outside. Sterling would be a wonderful horse show dog! In a perfect world, Sterling would love a farm home where he is able to run around outside during the day assisting you with your daily activities and curl up in bed with you at night. Sterling gets along well with most dogs, but we will require a standard dog-to-dog meeting if there are other dogs in the home. He would do best with children over the age of 10.
When Sterling first came into our care, we immediately noticed that he regurgitates his food. After months of testing and seeing different vets over the past 5 months for his regurgitation problems, the vet suspects Sterling to have an esophageal stricture. The only solution we have found to his regurgitation is thoroughly blending his food in a blender until it is a soupy consistency. Sterling has a great quality of life and his only special need is needing to have his food blended. We will provide Sterling's adopter with his very own new Hamilton Beach blender! Sterling will regurgitate anything he eats if it is not blended, so (much to Sterling's dismay) this means that he cannot have treats, table scraps, or peanut butter. It would be ideal that Sterling be crated when unattended as he does have the Jack Russell tendency to get into things he shouldn't. He loves to dig around in the trash cans when he is hanging out in the front office!
