Meet ***COURTESY LISTING*** Zoey

THIS ANIMAL IS A COURTESY LISTING AND IS NOT A PART OF THE ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER PROGRAM. PLEASE USE THE PROVIDED CONTACT INFORMATION BELOW TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS ANIMAL AND HOW TO ADOPT THEM.

Zoey is a happy almost 4 year old medium drive Shepherd. The family who had owned her since she was a puppy could no longer keep her. She is around 75 pounds, spayed, current on vaccinations, House trained, walks on a leash, and has good basic obedience.

Like most German Shepherds, Zoey bonds tightly and wants to be in a home where she is truly part of the family, going with her new owners on car rides, walks, swimming, and playing. She will thrive with exercise, training and playing with her ‘forever family”. Zoey is extremely observant and intelligent and has unlimited potential when it comes to what she can learn, obedience training, agility, dock diving. She loves to play with toys with her people. Fetch, tug of war, find it and any game you can teach her. This Dog also LOVES, the water, and entertained us many times this last summer by finding the deepest spot and literally dive bombing into it. What a fun dog ! Dive, swim, run, repeat.!

She also likes to go for a ride in our truck or jeep (inside of course), in the motorhome, and in the Ranger. Most of all she likes direction and knowing what you want her to do. She would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner, who is committed to keeping up on her training, and helping develop her social skills. We would also prefer to adopt her to a home that has a fenced yard if possible.

She is a typical female shepherd in that she can be pushy and thinks she’s in charge of all other dogs play. She is basically social and won’t start a problem, but will engage if pushed. She prefers to play with dogs around her own size and would be best in a home without small dogs or cats. We know that Zoey grew up with kids, and that she loved to play with them. Most of her life before she came to us, she lived outside, in a dog run, and her social skills were not good. We have worked with her on that, taking her places, and teaching her how to be appropriate around other dogs. She can be reactive to some dogs, but absolutely loves playing in the yard with our male golden retriever. We would do an introduction with a potential adopter to make sure it is a good fit for everyone.

Zoey is one of those very special dogs who we would love to keep in our own pack, but our Inn is full, as they say, and she really needs her own people.
