Stan's Story
My name is Stan and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m a laid-back 6-y.o. dude. I weigh 38 pounds. Okay stop! I’m just big-boned. I mean, I’m not going to say no to a snack if it’s offered, but... Until recently, I lived at a commercial breeding facility where I helped make puppies. Retirement is good! I’m still getting used to living in a home with humans, but rather than freak out, I’m going with the flow. I might be shy at first, but if you’re nice to me, I’ll return the favor. When I first came to my foster home here in Jonesburg, MO, my coat was a hot-mess. I got my very first bath and was blowing tufts like crazy! I actually made a bed of my own fur to lie in! Seriously! It was soft! But then foster mom started to pluck. And she plucked and she plucked and I was so patient and just stood there. So yeah, I’m pretty chill. When foster mom and dad leave the house, I am fine relaxing in my crate. And when they come home, I’m learning that their affection feels good! There are other dogs here and I just let them go about their business. I don’t mind them, but I’m not gonna join their rough-housing and nonsense. My jam is to wander around the fenced yard smelling ALL OF THE SMELLS. So my ideal forever home will have a securely fenced yard for me to roam. I’m getting the hang of how to walk on a leash, but let’s just say it’s a work-in-progress. If you’re patient and know about shy dogs, that will be great. Otherwise, my needs are pretty simple. I’d love a human to hang out with. I won’t bug you all the time, but we will be buds. I’m not so sure about little kids. I hear that they squeal and run around and I’m not a fan of that. Plus, I don’t want to accidentally knock them over. I haven’t met any cats, but foster mom thinks I’d be okay with them. I’m a healthy boy, neutered and vaccinated. If you live in the Midwest and want a laid-back guy like me to hang out with, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to learn more and apply to become approved to adopt with SIRA. The application helps SIRA learn more about you and your home so they can tell if we might be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet.
