Meet Spud
Meet Spud!
Spud landed at the shelter when his owner died. He came in with a prong collar embedded into his neck. We suspect Spud was left tied outside a lot previously. Spud was very shy and timid at the shelter, but now that he is out, his foster family said he’s a bit of a land shark!
Spud is about 2 years old and weighs about 80 lbs. He lived previously with a female GSD, and is currently fostered with a male GSDx and female GSD. Spud is way too interested in cats - no kitties or small dogs for him. He is learning how to play with toys, though shoes are much more appealing! Spud will fetch a stick or ball, but don’t expect him to return it! He is still working on gaining confidence. Sometimes he gets scared meeting new people, new dogs, or anything unfamiliar. His adoptive family should plan to bring him through training as it’s clear he never received any prior to joining rescue. Spud will require a fenced in yard - no apartments/condos for this big energetic boy. He is still learning to walk on leash and house manners. Spud will require a crate unless you’re looking for someone to demo your house! Spud bonds quickly to his person and will move heaven and earth (aka chairs/gates/barriers) to be with them! Spud will let you know if his water dish is running low by picking it up and carrying it off if he can’t find ya!
This handsome big boy will flourish with a GSD experience home ready to bring him through training, and help build his confidence so he knows not all humans are so bad!
