Spock and Chiquita Chihuahua Mix Port Townsend, WA

Meet Spock and Chiquita! These two bonded dogs are 3 years old. They came to us after being abandoned by their owners.

These two kids are incredibly sweet little lap dogs. As you can plainly see, Spock is a special dog, born with painfully deformed front paws. His front legs are also shorter than his back legs. This condition is painful, and Spock often stands holding a front leg up (he alternates which), or just plain sits up on his rear haunches to relieve the pressure on his paws. These two kids are currently in foster care. HSJC staff have been working hard with our vet (Dr. Johnson at Hadlock Vet Clinic) and the canine wheelchair company K9 Carts to get Spock what he needs - a front wheelchair to make him mobile without discomfort!

We are hopeful to find a special wonderful forever home who will take these two kids together. They came from a rough background (allegedly a home with illegal drugs), and it shows - Chiquita has several healed up cigarette burns on her little body. These two dogs love each other, preferring to go on their short walks together, and sleeping together too. We suspect they are siblings. Since they can be frightened by fast movements, we are seeking a home with no children under 5. A home without a lot of stairs would be good too, since Spock will soon be on wheels!

Spock and Chiquita recently had dental cleanings at our vet, and Spock is now missing a good portion of his teeth (lots were rotten). We have been feeding them canned food.

These dogs are up to date on their rabies and DAPP vaccines, have had recent bloodwork and are micro-chipped too. Their adoption fee is $200 (total, for both; + $40 for 2 dog licenses if residing within Jefferson County). Spock and Chiquita are in foster care so are not currently viewable here at the shelter.
