Meet Spike
This little cutie goes by the name of Spike. No, he's not an Arctic fox, although he looks a lot like one! Spike is a Spitz mix, estimated to be between one and two years old.
Spike was found as a stray in Mississippi, so not much is known about his past. He gets along well with other dogs his size. Spike is an active little guy and almost puppyish in terms of energy. He would love to have another young dog (or dogs) to play with in the home! A fenced-in yard with lots of toys would be ideal for him. Spike's foster mom has worked hard on his crate-training, and he will settle down quickly with a toy and treat. Sudden movements make Spike anxious, so we feel he would be best in a home without small children.
Update from Spike's foster mom: Spike is a great dog! He likes attention, but doesn't insist on it constantly. He has staked out his place on the biggest dog bed on one end of the porch (and next to my head on the bed) and stays there a lot. He lays there and watches activity, plays a little with stuffed toys, and sleeps. Spike will initiate contact indoors some, but not a lot. Although he was nervous at first, he is now pretty laid back at my house.
Spike weighs 15 lbs. and has been neutered. He is up-to-date on vaccinations and is being fostered in central Maine.
Almost Home Rescue of New England is a 501 c 3 not for profit rescue, rescuing dogs since 2005.
