Meet Spike
Adorable Spike is an 9 month old, 11 lb. black and tan JRT mix.
Spike loves to play and will need to be in an adoptive home where he has a canine companion around the same size as him (or under 25lbs.) He needs a packmate he can engage with throughout the day. He will not fit with a larger dog because of his fear of them. His experience with large dogs is being overwhelmed.
He is an off the charts playful and happy pup who can get into everything. Being young, he is quicker to tire and at bedtime he likes to be close to his person and will sleep on your bed if allowed.
Spike is progressing well with his house-training and does all his poops outside unless nobody is home and then will use a mat.
We recommend a house with a fenced backyard, because he loves his outside activities and chasing the other dogs in his foster home.
Spike is a typical young pup with boundless energy and likes to de-stuff toys, chase balls, and chase the other dogs in his foster home. He can grab at fingers and clothes and need to be told firmly that this is a “no, no”. There is no sinking in of teeth, just a “want to hold you with my mouth and didn’t know there were teeth in there.”
While he would likely get along with older, responsible and dog-experienced kids but we wouldn’t suggest smaller, younger ones under the age of eight.
He may still chew things, so keep cords up and he likes to raid the kitchen table, so chairs must be pushed in and all things that can hurt him be put safely away. We are recommending that he be re-homed with people who work from home or are retired so he won’t be alone too much.
Spike is a great eater, loves his treats and is gentle taking them. He loves people and loves to cuddle and be close. He is a smart boy and is learning his commands quickly.
This special little boy is being lovingly fostered in Angus, Ontario, and his adoption fee is $650. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped.
