Meet Sphynx JuM
Have you been having to cross out the 8 and add a 9 because adjusting from 2018 to 2019 has been slow! I'm going through the same thing, a difficult transition. (Hotdog piece puhlease or I'm done talking about myself) *volunteer puts hotdog in his mouth*
I was rescued from the city shelter in 2018. I came from a sad situation living pretty much 24/7 in a crate with lots of other sad pooches. I was a little, unsocialized, matted mess. That's a fair assessment. (More hotdogs puhlease!)
It took a few days to get the trust factor going in the right direction enough to get me out of the crate and even longer before I would let these ladies touch me. You have to be careful and keep me on a leash, because I'm fast as lightening and determined to not be caught when I get free. The volunteer lost several pounds following me around the pasture trying to convince me to go back to my kennel. So now she knows to leash me and I'm pretty good on a leash.
I've come a very long way but still nervous. Now I'll allow touches by strangers and will gently take treats. Hotdogs are the treat of choice. Don't try to grab me too quickly, that's scary city! With patience I will trust a gentle person. Just ask Missus Theresa. She's totes me around no problems. I'm totally tote-able at about 20 ish pounds of tall lanky Terrier.
*Whew….Time for a hotdog break*
I'm a pro at leash walking and people watching. We leash walk around watching strangers so I can get more comfortable. When going to see the barber I'm more comfortable if someone I know is there to hold my paw and talk me through it and prefer my facial fur to be left scruffy! No touchy face!
My first 3 years of life were bad city, but I believe I'm ready for a home. The lady says it is best that no children live at my house, because they move too fast and like to hug too much. I'm great with other dogs who will run and play. I likes scrunching into soft blankets and soft hearts. I might be a bit of a project dog, but you are up for the challenge, aren’t ya?
