You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents.

Sophie is a 14 pound, female, spayed, 9 year old, short-haired chihuahua mix that was surrendered by her owner for unknown reasons. She was turned into a shelter in Texas, and transported to Rochester to find her forever home. She is up-to-date on her immunizations and spayed. She is a very happy girl who loves to love and receive lots of love. Sophie likes to follow and be with her person as much as possible and would be happiest with someone home much or most of the day. She enjoys long, brisk walks (recommended for her to channel her energy) and is currently walking well on leash with her foster 2-4 miles a day. She sleeps happily in her crate all night but is also happy to sleep in bed with her human. She loves to play fetch and returns the toy at lightning speed. A fence that is a minimum of 4 feet tall would be recommended for Sophie in order for her to be able to run loose in a yard. She can leap quite well. Otherwise she should be leashed at all times. She goes out and does her business quite quickly but, prefers to have her human out with her or she will wait at the door. Sophie is potty trained. She seems to have been an only dog, indifferent to her foster siblings. She’s not aggressive towards them, nor does she look to them for love, play, or interaction. The human is her world. You will always feel important and loved with Sophie around. Her dream owner would be someone who has the time to devote to her getting daily walks, love, pets, and play. All our dogs have been spayed/neutered; treated for worms; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 mths or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchip; and examined by veterinarian and given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed.
