Meet Solo

Meet Solo! An adorable big boy who is in search of his forever home.

After a month in foster care we are happy to share that Solo has become a whole new dog compared to when he arrived! This sweet boy is now showing lots of exciement when his foster parents arrive home, or when his kitty foster brother starts to get the zoomies. Within the last week he will display excited wiggle butt and tippy tap toes when his humans get ready to go for a walk or get home from work. He is still warry of new people and environments, but is quickly willing to get to know them with some cautious, investigative sniffs. He has become much more comfortable on walks througout bustling Brooklyn, although he does prefer a familiar route or park to a new adventure. He is a sensitive boy who has superb leash manners. He walks on a very loose leash and barely needs any leash pressure to guide him. Solo has been observed to be very fearful of other dogs while on walks and he will quietly ask for space by either stepping to the side while they pass or giving himself some extra distance. We think he may be able to have one or two dog friends that he can slowly get to know, but he will probably never be the social doggy park butterfly who wants to greet every dog. Solo has become great friends with his kitty foster brother. They hang out together in the same rooms and like to snooze on the couch together. The kitty likes to hide under furnature and pop out when Solo walks by to initiate a game of tag. He is unphased when the kitty "pow pows" him on his big head. Solo's favorite person is his 9 month old foster niece! He is always excited to see her and loves to talk with her in squeeks and help eat her food. Due to his history of extreme fear, a home with older, well matched children may be considered. As Solo continues to make strides we are excited for him to begin the search for his forever family!

Solo has been settling into his foster home for about a week and is starting to come out of his shell! His foster mom thinks he spent a lot of his life in the yard, so he is experiencing a lot of firsts and some of them are a bit scary. But Solo has proven to be brave and resilient and is slowly adjusting to this new, sometimes scary, world. He prefers walks at quiet times of day so he can focus on doing big sniffies in the high grass. During busy times of day, he likes to snooze in his crate or on his bed while his foster dad works on the computer. This week he has learned how to climb the stairs, avoid the mean kitty in the house, enjoy a good peanut butter licky mat and relax on the couch. He likes to do a BIG stretch when he gets up and sings the prettiest "Solo" performance when he's lonely. We're very proud of helping Solo with the progress he's made so far and are excited to see who he becomes!
