Meet Sodapop

Meet Sodapop, an approximately 25lb, male, Australian Cattle Dog mix who was born approximately February 2021 and became a Misfit after coming into the shelter with a fractured leg. This pet is neutered, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, heart-worm negative, and micro-chipped!

Sodapop is house trained, kennel trained, and mostly leash trained. He still gets excited and tugs on walks sometimes. He is a good car rider if you let him ride shotgun, otherwise he will spend the entire trip making his way to the front seat if you don’t strap him in. He is treat motivated and very smart. He has not mastered any tricks yet but only because he’s spent the last couple of months with a leg splint.

Sodapop is great with other dogs. He currently lives with dogs ranging from 10-90lbs, aged 4months-10years. His best friends are two Australian Shepherds weighing 20 and 40lbs. He has been around a cat. He does like to chase so he will need to continue working on his manners or be in a home without cats. He does not currently live with children but should do fine with them. Sodapop is a high energy working dog. While he has not been witnessed on a farm, he was definitely bred to work. He spends his time patrolling the perimeter, herding puppies inside, and giving squirrels the stink eye. He would do best in an active home where he can be given the proper stimulation. He will bark/cry if he is not worked enough.

Sodapop is a great dog with a loving personality. He is very loyal and stays by his foster moms side and loves to cuddle after a hard day of keeping the yard safe from tumble weeds. He is a very spunky little dude and is quite the morning person. He starts his morning patrol by 7am at the absolute latest. His foster mom finds it best to let him do a round before breakfast so he doesn’t get worked up soon after eating. As mentioned previously, he is a high energy dog. He would love to go on walks or actively play in the yard. He loves tennis balls, puzzle toys, and his snake squeaky toy. Sodapop has been on crate rest or restricted activity for several weeks while recovering and he has learned to entertain himself with the right toys (puzzles that let out treats or plush toys with different squeakers and crinkles). He really is meant to be a more active dog and would appreciate a lot of activity.
