Here is more about Snider!
6-years-old, 85-pounds
House-trained: Yes – will likely need reminding of good habits as he learns his new environment
Crate-trained: Yes – sleeps all night in his crate
Health: Snider is positive for Heartworm and the following is very important – he is on restricted exercise until the end of January for recovery purposes and overexertion can result in complications – he will need to be retested for heartworm in June 2021 to ensure they are cleared. This will be the adopter’s responsibility. If still positive, adopter will need to work with their vet on treatment and he should receive Heartworm preventative for the rest of his life.
Other Dogs: Unknown – because of his activity restrictions, he has not been socialized yet with other dogs, but he may be okay with one other dog in the home provided there is a very slow, controlled introduction and ample decompress time for both the dogs when in the new home
Cats: Cannot go to a home with a cat
Kids: Snider is very sweet and absolutely loves the kids in his foster home (ages 6 and 16)
Snider is a sweet and gentle giant who has had a lot of change recently. He can be anxious and timid, but he makes such wonderful progress each day. Inside, where he feels most comfortable, he is an absolute joy. Calm and gentle when accepting treats, he will add so much love to a home. He is still afraid of cars and loud vehicles and will take off towards the back of the house when he is startled. It is important to have him on a strong leash at all times while outside.
Snider loves his soft, squeaky chew toys and takes them into and out of his crate each day. He enjoys naps and relaxation most of the day since he is on restricted activity. Snider loves having a family and will thrive if there is a human to guide him and teach him confidence and happiness. He loves to be involved in all things relating to his humans. Having slow introductions and decompression time will be important to him and help him to enjoy his new forever environment. He is a true Great Pyrenees and training / acclimating to his new home will need to be in line with his breed.
His adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, & Bordetella), HW and flea/tick preventative, and microchip implant and registration.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best guess.
Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 75-mile radius of the Minneapolis, MN city center.
