Sky Labrador Retriever Mix Johnston, IA

Sky is a gorgeous 3 year old 40ish lb lab mix who came to us with a gunshot wound and had to have her front leg amputated. She has recovered remarkably well and even does stairs just fine now.

Sky's needs include a place with a fully fenced yard - she will take days if not a week or two to completely adjust to new people. This includes barking and not wanting to be touched much until she trusts you, so no apartments or young children for her forever home please. When she does feel comfortable with someone she will be their little shadow dog and never leave them alone - but with her past she does have stranger danger. She will likely need a few meets and at least a month long trial run to ensure she adjusts well to a new space.

She would *love* another dog to play with and follow around in her forever home - she has seen cats and doesn't seem to want to destroy them so should be okay with those as well. This girl will be your best friend when she knows it's safe for her.

Her adoption fee is $250 and she's fully vetted. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.
