Meet Skipper
We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.
Skipper, 8-month-old, neutered male, pit bull and pointer mix, 22 pounds as of October. We are not totally sure what he is mixed with, but it appears he will be a smaller/medium size when full grown. Skipper is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an adopter is approved!
Skipper is a medium- to high-energy young guy who is always down to play! He lives in a foster home with two dogs (12lbs and 35lbs) and has exhibited strong sociability and ability to interpret their cues. When meeting other dogs, Skipper is quite playful. While he loves to have fun, Skipper knows how to be
calm and entertain himself with toys.
We have no history of cats or kids. We recommend a home with kids 10 years or older, or those who understand and can respect animal boundaries.
Skipper is leash and crate trained and has been progressing through house training with a few accidents. He has not shown any separation anxiety and has not been left loose in the house while unsupervised.
As Skipper is still a puppy, he needs training in basic manners to ensure a solid foundation into adulthood. He can be jumpy and will nip ankles and arms to engage humans in play. He takes correction well and is easily redirected. He should be restrained while riding in a car as he thinks the driver’s lap is
where he should be!
Skipper loves to chew on all kinds of bones and with his toys. He has not shown any tendency to resource guard his toys or food, although we would always recommend feeding animals separately anyway. When meeting new people, Skipper can be shy but warms up with sweet talk and treats, showing his
smart yet stubborn personality. Skipper is a very Good Boy who would thrive in a home with another dog to captain him into his adulthood.
***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
