This dude is one of New Leash Rescue's most over looked gems. He's been with us since October 2019. He just needs someone willing to give him a chance.

Sirius is a handsome "tuxedo" lab who is around 4 years old and came to us as an unclaimed local stray. He needs room to run and an active family committed to working with him and getting him the exercise he needs

He is the reigning champion blue ribbon "I See You in Your Yard Next Door" Neighborhood Barking Challenge winner. Guaranteed to never have any surprise guests visit your home! Professional Counter Surfer (PCS) with certifications in Clearing Nightstands and Side Tables. He cleans dishes, folks!

He's also won the highly coveted "Good Boy of the Day" award in his foster home multiple times. He excels at kenneling especially when treats are involved. You don't have to tell him twice! He prefers to sleep in bed with you but will settle for his own bed on the floor in the room with you. He is a busy dog that enjoys enrichment activities and would rock at scent work or agility if you're looking at getting into that. He gets along with other dogs but isn't dependent on them so would also thrive as any only child too. He also has successfully kept a toy without destroying it for 5 whole days.

Sirius tends to be nervous and likes routine along with familiarity. When he first came into his current foster home it took a few weeks for him to trust his foster mom and dad. Once he got comfortable with them he started running to them for comfort when he would get spooked. He also can be very pushy when he wants cuddles and scratches. He will awkwardly sit on your chest and paw at your face while you're trying to sleep. But you can't be mad considering he doesn't do this to just anyone.

He is a smart, tall, lanky doggy and he is always a happy boy. Sirius will need an owner that works with him and he will be loyal to the end! 

He loves food and is very food motivated, so continued training and working with him should be easy. He also loves to cuddle up with his person and snuggle! He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots and current with heartworm and flea and tick preventives.

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable.

There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
