Meet Sirius
Meet Sirius!
He is a very special six month old German Shepherd Dog. He is medium to large sized weighing around 55 pounds (currently).
Sirius was brought to a veterinarians office covered in urine and feces and was requested to be euthanized. He is blind, but he is a happy puppy and the veterinarian could not and would not do it. They found a safe place for him to go with our partner in South Carolina and now he is going to be headed north.
The veterinarian believes that his blindness is congenital. He gets around pretty well, loves to play with other pups and is overall a happy boy who deserves a family who will not see his blindness as a disability but will work with him as he grows to teach him how to navigate this world without losing his lovable personality.
His blindness is something that his future family will have to educated themselves about and be prepared to learn the tools necessary to give Sirius the training he needs as he grows. He does do very well with other dogs so we are recommending a home with a fur sibling. Often this will help a blind dog navigate and gain confidence. Preference to adopters with previous blind dog experience would be ideal but if the right family comes along with no experience but has the deviation they will be considered as well. We just want this sweet boy to be in the best family and have the best life.
