Meet Sir Bucky Jack

Bucky was born in August 2014 and looks like a very tall Siberian Husky. He is inquisitive and enjoys a peaceful life. Consistency and a calm environment work great. Force-free training is the only way for Bucky Jack! Due to Bucky's anxiety with new environments, he is most likely to stay in foster care.

BACKGROUND: Bucky came to the rescue as a 1 yr. puppy. He has tried to live in a home with a female but it was just too exciting. He is currently living with a female malamute and a male husky/malamute mix. They co-exist nicely and respect each other "space."

PERSONALITY: Bucky is not a cuddler. He loves taking peaceful naps & is sensitive to loud sounds & needs time/space to process new things. He likes to lay on the sofa next to his human for companionship. He walks nicely on a leash and has even learned to ignore squirrels and cats. His signature look is the resting tongue hanging outside his mouth even when he sleeps, which is so cute.

Bucky works daily being "calm" to help with his impulse control & anxiety. He is super smart!

HEALTH: Bucky was diagnosed with anxiety, which explains his previous behavior. Maintaining a predictable schedule helps him feel secure. He is on anti-anxiety medication ($12 a month from Costco). Today he is able to practice everything he has previously learned without going over threshold.

LIKES: He enjoys all things outside: Napping, burying tennis balls/chew treats, and being on critter patrol. He enjoys taking his time to sniff on leisure walks & hikes, which is healthy. He is always ready for a car ride.

HOME ENVIRONMENT: Bucky prefers a stay-at-home human. During COVID Bucky has been staying in the living room napping with his foster sister who is crated. Pre-COVID, Bucky stayed home alone for 5-6 hours in a (4x4 & height 54 inches) kennel where he can stand and move around. Crates feel a bit too claustrophobic for this boy.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering this dog, please complete an application online via our website: https://www.chaamp.org/ or email: CHAAMPapplication@gmail.com for an application.

Your application helps CHAAMP determine a good match based upon your lifestyle, other pets, etc. We are happy to work with you. A home visit is required prior to all adoptions. You can visit the Malamutes once you're approved for adoption. Alternatively, you may volunteer and learn how positive reinforcement brings out the best in Malamutes.

CHAAMP accepts applications from Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington DC.

ADOPTION FEES
~Adult dogs (two-seven years old): $275.00
~Older dogs (eight years old or over): $100.00
~Puppies (6 months - 1 year): $350.00

All Malamutes are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Adoption fees help us cover these costs. Puppy fees are higher because they require more vet visits for vaccines.
