Simone German Shepherd Dog Chicago, IL

Simone is a 4-year-old spayed female German Shepherd. She was picked up as a stray and awaiting her fate at animal control when German Shepherd Rescue stepped up to save this sweet girl and treat her heartworm infection.

Simone is house-trained, crate-trained, calm, and quiet. She never barks but has a special talent of howling along with the fire sirens. She is people-friendly and dog-indifferent, meaning she isn’t interested in playing with other dogs but tolerates their presence well (she would rather beg for treats).

Her quirky attribute is that she likes to follow you, which means she can sometimes seem under foot. But even though she likes to be near you, especially during a thunderstorm, she doesn’t have separation anxiety and can be left alone in the house.

Simone loves spending time outside watching the squirrels and rabbits. She isn’t interested in toys or balls, but she loves walks, treats, and belly rubs. Simone knows basic commands (including with hand signals), takes treats gently, and is an overall gentle-mannered dog. It is unknown if she would do well with cats, but she would likely be OK with respectful children. She is seeking a family that shares her quiet, calm, patient approach to life.
