Simba's Story

A 10 month old pup, Simba, found himself in the county shelter for the second time in his young life. He was terrified! The first time Simba was in the county shelter he was just 12 weeks old. He was adopted shortly after arrival but unfortunately returned when his person moved out of state and couldn’t take him along. Understandably confused and scared the second time in the county shelter, Simba would let out a fearful, big-dog bark to ward off strangers and then retreat to the back of his cell. This caused people to overlook him and after two long months, he ended up at the top of the kill list.

When our intake team saw him, we asked one of the county volunteers who he trusted to take him outside for us to meet him. Once outside, we found this large pup... now one year old... to be full of playfulness and love. We couldn’t leave this scared, sweet puppy to meet his fate that day so we took him to the safety of our Pet Adoption Facility.

Once at Our Pal’s Place, Simba began to relax. Our volunteers spent time with him in our yard where he was happy to run around and show off his amazing "sit". Simba has a new, positive outlook on life and he can’t wait to share it with his future forever family!
