Silas's Story

All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step.
Meet Silas! This handsome 11⁄2-year-old hound/shepherd mix might seem a little unsure when you first meet him — but don’t be fooled! His initial shyness isn’t the real Silas. Once he checks things out and decides if you’re as nice as you look (spoiler alert: you are), you’ll see the transformation — tail wagging, eyes sparkling, and that goofy, lovable personality shining through! Silas is sweet, affectionate, and once he’s comfortable, he’s the kind of dog who will stick by your side with a happy heart. He’s a social butterfly at doggie daycare, where he loves playing like crazy with his friends. At just 35 pounds, he’s the perfect medium size — easy to snuggle, great for families, and always ready for adventure. And did we mention his stunning brindle coat? Silas isn’t just beautiful on the outside — he’s got the heart to match. He’s truly one of those dogs who just needs a little time to show you how special he really is.

All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped.
The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only.
