Meet Sierra

Meet Sierra! Sierra is a young gal- around 10 months and about 42 pounds full grown. She is a blue nose pit mix - very petite and adorable!

Sierra had a rough start to life. She was found at around six to eight months of age, emaciated and with terrible mange, and wounds all over her body. Sierra’s body was tired, and she seemed like she was ready to give up. Within a few weeks of being in the foster program Sierra started to brighten up. And now after several months of TLC Sierra is ready to start her new life with the right human(s)!

The Basics:

Sierra is high energy! We like to say she’s making up for lost time. She has lived in a home with three children and two to three dogs for the last few months. Sierra’s absolute favorite thing to do is play with her squeaky ball. She plays with it by herself but also enjoys fetch! 9 times out of 10 Sierra will bring the ball back and let you take it out of her mouth to throw it again!

Sierra is super alert. Call out any name and she will come running! When it’s time to relax there’s no doubt Sierra will be right there on your lap if she can be. She is affectionate and LOVES snuggles! Sierra is always ready for a car ride as well. Overall, Sierra is such a joyful dog who wants to live life to the fullest!

Despite her rocky beginning, Sierra loves people so much. She is extremely food and treat motivated and eats her meals very quick. After being hungry for so long who can blame her! However, because of this it would be best to feed her from a puzzle feeder or some sort of slow feeder.

Sierra is crate trained and will happily snooze the night away in her crate. During the day she is used to being around her people or other dogs or kept behind a baby gate in the kitchen if no one is home. Sierra is 99% potty trained. As with any dog, Sierra should not be considered fully potty trained until after one year of age and having been in her new home for a significant amount of time. Sierra has been around lots of dogs of all sizes and is dog friendly. She has not been cat tested.

If you’ve read this far, here are some other things you should know about Sierra:

-Boundaries, or lack thereof. Think bull in a China closet, but this bull is not too big so it’s not so bad ? There is no such thing as “too close” for Sierra. When offering treats to multiple dogs, Sierra will try to eat them all. She wants to be a good girl, and she is, but those treats are SOOOOOOO good! Sierra would likely do great with basic training, especially since she is so treat motivated.

-She can be mouthy and does odd little nips at your face if you’re in her face, but it’s rare and never in an aggressive way. It’s always best to stay out of a dog’s face anyway, right?

-While Sierra gets along wonderfully with most dogs (all that she’s met so far), she can be dominant, especially upon first meetings. Please don’t let this scare you away, it is just something that an adopter should be aware of and take into consideration if there are other pets in the home. She has been around other dominant females and they get along great. She has never shown aggression towards other dogs. In fact, Sierra would absolutely love to have a doggie playmate!

-Sierra is an older puppy and still enjoys chewing on random things, so it’s important to doggy proof areas in which she will be living.

Sierra is spayed, microchipped, and current on her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $200.
