Shylo Treeing Walker Coonhound Portland, OR

Meet Shylo, A 1 yr old, 50 LB neutered male. He's a handsome, athletic hunting breed dog.

Shylo is your typical high energy, intelligent, affectionate, sometimes vocal hound dog, with a desire to hunt. Please know this breed, and do your research, hound dogs aren't for everybody, but they are wonderful dogs for the right home, A COUNTRY HOME.

Shylo is a COUNTRY boy, he will not do well with close neighbors due to his Hound dog barking. NO apartments or shared wall living. A home in the country would be ideal for Shylo.

Shylo is a very nice dog. He does bark - a lot, when meeting new people, it's a hound thing. Once you toss the ball for him, he's willing to play and be your friend. He LOVES playing fetch. He's good with friendly dogs and people.
Kids 8yrs and older, due to his energy level.

Shylo loves playing and running with the other dogs. He's good with all friendly dogs, big and small, young and old.
He does need and adopter that owns at least one other, high energy, active dog to help burn off his energy. A well exercised dog, is a happy dog.

Shylo will need some basic training, he thinks that when he greets humans he should do so by jumping on them in a friendly manner. For this reason, a home WITHOUT small children is best. We don't want to set him up to fail, because he's too much energy for some small kids.
He does know "sit" and "lay down", and is very treat motivated and wants to learn.

Shylo will do best in an ACTIVE home with another high energy, young dog. He will also NEED A LARGE YARD with a 6 FT SECURE FENCE. OR a home in the country on 10+ acres far from roads, for his safety. Treeing Walker Hounds are VERY active and very athletic.

Shylo will CHASE CATS, so a home without cats is required. He should not live in a home with any small prey animals, free range chickens will not work. He is a hunting breed and hunting instincts are genetic. His desire to chase would not be fun for any prey type animals.
