Meet Shiner KM
In return for your belly rubs, I can offer games of rope tug and fetch, which I’ve become pretty skilled at since getting healthy. Yes, I’m not sure how I wound up at my Foster’s home, but when I popped up on the security camera, they came out and got me, took me to the vet and found out I was very sick! I had those blasted heartworms and spent two months in what I call a “fun timeout” resting so my heart didn’t have to hurt and I could get better. But that’s all over and now I’m the best fetcher in my neighborhood!
The humans think I had to have been in a family before because I totally understand human words. I came right up to them when they said “here, boy” with my tail wagging, and a fancy red collar. I was filthy and they gave me a bath, and realized I have spots all over – not just my eye patch. And look at my amazing smile! The doctor was impressed with my super clean teeth. He thinks I’m about 1.5 years old. I walk every night now so I can get back in shape, and I’m awesome on the leash (even though I like to bark at the deer when I see them!).
My Foster Humans have two smaller humans and I like them the most. They don’t judge my wet nose and mouth when I go in for a hug. They also play more and pet me more, so they’re cool in my book! If only the bigger humans could be more like them! We also have a cat (I’m told) but he hides, so I don’t really know if we would be friends or not. I do like to watch the pet birdies, but I don’t think I should be trusted alone with them. They look like squeaky toys.
At night and when the humans go out, I sleep in my crate. Sometimes I take a nap in there too on my own. I don’t mind it at all. It’s nice to have something that’s mine! Of course, they have to coax me in because I don’t want to be left while they go have fun, but I don’t make a huge deal about it. I’ve learned I can get a treat and take a nap and it isn’t so bad!
So – If you’re looking for a very chill, super sweet, gentle and affectionate kind of dog – I’m your buddy!
