Sheba's Story

A060050 Sheba; intact female Australian Cattle Dog / German Shepherd mix; est 8 years; 32 lbs
Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services
📱 (209)754-6509
🌐 Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/
📧 Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov

Meet Sheba, an 8 year old German shepherd mix lady. She is good-natured natured and affectionate. Being more mature in age, she is well past that insane-in-the-puppy-brain thing, which can be fun but also exhausting! If you are seeking a mellower snuggle buddy, one of these ladies might be just the ticket.

Sheba came to the shelter frightened of everything and everybody, but with the patient coaxing and gentle love of staff and volunteers, she has become much more relaxed and trusting. She now welcomes touch when offered and will approach us to ask for loving strokes and comfort.

Sheba will need continued patience and time to build confidence. Her progress thus far is a good indicator that she has the ability and disposition to bond deeply with a caring family that can provide a place where she will feel safe and loved.

She came to the shelter very thin, and is still underweight but with extra rations are filling out nicely.

Sheba takes her cookies oh-so-gently.

Sheba is favoring her left rear leg from some unknown injury. We'll get her checked out at the vet soon and update her bio with any lingering medical needs. 🩺

She seems to like other dogs, both male and female, though it's hard to assess in much detail yet as she’s still very shy. We'll continue to introduce her around to more two- and four-legged friends to help her gain confidence.

Sheba keep her inner kennel tidy. Although we can't make guarantees, she may do well with house training. 💩

Sheba appears to already be spayed, though we'll need to confirm that.

We do not have info on their attitude toward cats at this time.

A meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
