Shaw - a.k.a. “Shaw Bear,” “Baby Girl” and “Boo Boo.”

This beauty is a black and tan cutest ears ever mix. Seemingly a Doberman Pinscher mix, medium stature, approximately 8-9 years old and possesses the most unique and lovable personality. She loves to be involved with whatever you’re doing, whether it’s walking in the park, dancing in the kitchen or escorting you to the restroom. Though she is a homebody, Shaw also loves to go on hikes and field trips to the store. When you’re gone, she will keep the bed warm and the house safe. She loves to bark and pounce when she thinks you’re playing. Her alone time is also very valuable to her, randomly opting for the couch instead of snuggling in bed and vice-versa. She sits and lays...but only when treats are involved. She’s not great at fetch but loves to chase toys. Though a veteran vermin hunter and mailman terrorizer, she is incredibly cuddly, good at listening, wonderful at walking and leans into hugs.

She was a rescue dog at the age of two, found with methamphetamine in her system, multiple wounds, some of which has left her mildly scarred in and out and a nervous disposition towards humans. With a loving home, she has learned to love and trust again and has molded into the rightfully spoiled pet that she is now. The lasting effects include, nervousness towards cars that approach her from behind, very loud sounds (fireworks and serious storms), telling her “No” at times will cause her to cower and pee, as well as any sort of confrontation or aggressive behavior.

Shaw will thrive in a high energy household where she can be pampered with affection but also play hard with her human(s). She really does love being the center of attention, so a home with no other pets or children is advised. You can guarantee that if Shaw becomes your dog she will be loving and faithful almost to a fault. I cannot put into words how amazing this dog is. She’s got a million adorable quirks and the goofiest mannerisms. We, her current family, have loved her from the moment she joined us and we will continue to even though she has to find a new family to love. With a new baby in our lives, Shaw has become confused, unpredictable and even a little sad because she doesn’t understand why she has to share us. With heavy but hopeful hearts, it is incredibly important to us that she finds a forever home with people who will keep her until her last days, holding her paw in the end if need be because that is what she deserves.
