Meet Shasta Mae (Avail May 15)

Look who is ready to share her story! Meet Shasta Mae! ?

Let me tell you something, guys. At my age, you don't expect to have to be moved around. You believe that your family is your forever and you will be with them until the end. As we all know, life doesn't always go as planned. My owners ended up having to leave their home and downsize to a much smaller place and they weren't allowed to have a fence. They believed it would be best to surrender me to this rescue. They wanted to make sure that I ended up somewhere safe and found the best home possible.

After I came into rescue, a quick trip revealed that I was heart-worm positive. That really sucked. It signed me up for staying on medical hold for a whole month and now that I have received my first treatment I have another month to go until I can go home. Along with that, the treatment is rough as it has to be to get rid of those worms that are eating my heart. I really wish that people would realize just how important heart-worm prevention is. It is no a joke, and it is way more common than one might believe. But, I can't change the past but hopefully, I talked someone into getting their dog(s) on it! Now, to get back to my story ?

My name is Shasta Mae and I am a 7-year-old female Great Pyrenees. I weigh around 61lbs, and am a mountain of fluff! I am a pretty laid-back girl, but also quite silly! I get the zoomies often and will run around like a goofball!

Below you will find what my foster has to say about me

"Shasta Mae, is still unwinding. She has a really cute personality! She is very sweet and likes to hang out with us. If she isn’t around us, you will probably find her asleep in the bathtub! (She must have been kept in a bathroom) Occasionally, she gets the “zoomies” When it is dinner time she goes right to her bowl and waits for her food. We do still feed her in a crate due to slight food aggression. Everyone that meets her, loves her!"

??To My New Family (Part 1) ??

So, I have compiled a list of some things that my potential family should know about me.

?I am a very sweet girl. I love meeting new people and am quite friendly when meeting them. I am always excited to make a new friend! My foster has taken me for walks around the lake, and I have done excellent! I have good manners when meeting people and do not jump on them.

?I have not shown to be a big chewer in my foster home. I have not shown any interest in playing fetch, and don't seem all that interested in toys. I am not interested in playing in water either. I much prefer to entertain myself through silly zoomies and goofball moments ?

?I have shown to have some food aggression towards the other dogs. It is recommended that I be monitored at feeding time or fed separately if there are other dogs around. I have not shown to have any issues with resource guarding.

? I am good with other dogs. For the most part, I am indifferent to them. I don't mind them but I also don't play with them.

? I am not being fostered around any cats so am unsure how I would do with them.

? I have not been around any kids so am unsure how I would do.

?I am potty and kennel trained.

? I am unsure how I would do in an apartment setting. I am not really a big barker, but will sometimes let out a few woofs when I am in the backyard. I do love going for walks and do great on a leash. I do love car rides and am excited to go on road trips!

?When no one is home or at night, I am given free roam of the house and do excellent!

?I do ride well in the car and tend to hop right in.

?As we talked about, I am currently undergoing heartworm treatment. While I won't be ready to go home until around May 15th, I would love to have a family already waiting to take me home close to that date!

?I am being fostered in Purcell, OK. We do not send our dogs on transports or ship them. This means my new family needs to pick me up, even if they are out of state.

?My adoption fee is $150. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention. It will also include my heartworm treatment.

??To My New Family (Part 2) ??

If I have stolen your heart then please read on to make sure you are the right fit for me!

My ideal home would be more laid back. Don't get me wrong, I would enjoy going for walks but super long likes or runs are not for me anymore. I have a great personality and would do fine with or without other dogs. I would be perfect for someone that is looking for a more chill dog that also has a silly and lovable personality!
