Meet Shangri

Sweet Shangri is waiting to meet you!

Meet Shangri! Shangri is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area (see information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section).

Shangri is a terrier mix with short, soft white fur and golden mask markings. We estimate she will be a medium size dog when grown. Part of the Ice Age litter, she traveled with her mom and siblings from a shelter in Texas to find a new home in the PNW area. We are currently taking applications for Shangri, and she will be able to go home with an adopter after her spay surgery in mid-February, 2025.

Friendly, gentle and smart, Shangri is the quiet observer of her siblings. She’s more independent than the others, and she looks before she leaps, analyzing a situation before rushing into it. Shangri can be quite silly and enjoys playing with her toys, and she is content to come up with her own games if the other pups are occupied. A smart puppy with a medium energy level, Shangri fluctuates between playing hard and enjoying a good adventure, then appreciating her quiet time and some space. Though a mellower pup, Shangri doesn’t allow herself to be bullied by her larger, more boisterous brother. She will hold him down until he yields when he starts getting obnoxious.

Born on December 12, 2024, Shangri is a young puppy who still sleeps in a pen with her siblings, but she has already started potty training. She will begin crate, leash, and obedience training shortly. In the meantime, Shangri is spending her days romping, cuddling, and getting lots of playtime, love, and new adventures with her foster family and growing into a healthy, active, affectionate pup ready for her new home.

Shangri’s ideal home? Shangri seeks a family to love who will love her in return and ensure she learns the skills that will make her a happy and well-rounded dog. While she enjoys being active, Shangri also knows how to amuse herself and may find puzzles or enrichment type games intriguing. She would do well with cats, dogs or kids. Walks where she could explore her environment would delight this smart and curious girl. Does Shangri sound like a match for you?

What is Path of Hope Rescue’s Adoption Process?

Our adoption process takes on average 7-10 days.

2. Your personal Matchmaker will contact you, help you find your perfect pup match, and guide you through the process.

3. Meet your potential pup at the home of the foster family (the process may differ slightly for long distance adopters).

4. Bring your potential pup home for a no commitment In Home Trial. In Home Trials are a minimum of (2) nights for a puppy and one week for an adult. Your Matchmaker will check in with you during this time.

5. Sign the adoption paperwork and adopt your new family member!

Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue

• Our adoption process sets us apart. We specialize in learning about you and your family to find just the right fit for you. Our Matchmakers are not only good at what they do; they will also guide you through the entire process.

• Our Minimum Adoption Donation is $550 for puppies under a year and $450 for dogs a year and older. We are a WA state registered non-profit and rely heavily on adoption donations to cover the expenses associated with saving lives. Our dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption; microchipped with free lifetime registration; and up to date on DAPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccinations (when age appropriate) and deworming and heartworm treatment/prevention. Adopters can also earn a $100 training refund if they attend (6) hours of any in person training course.

• Long Distance adopters (one hour or more from Spokane) may choose to travel to Spokane to pick up their dog or use our monthly transport option, Puppy Delivery Express, for an additional delivery donation of $250. Puppy Delivery Express currently delivers dogs throughout Washington and to parts of Montana, Idaho, and Oregon.

About Path of Hope Rescue

• At Path of Hope Rescue, our goal is to make EVERY DOG. WANTED. Our two employees and army of volunteers focus on transporting pregnant dogs and puppies from Texas, the number one kill state in America. The dogs we rescue are in poor living conditions and on euthanasia lists in shelters that are inundated with unwanted animals. We want to give these dogs a chance and bring them to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive, loving homes.

• We are 100% foster based; our dogs are fostered in loving homes where they are house and crate trained and learn basic obedience and leash skills. Dogs experience socialization opportunities with people, places, and other animals, and they receive the attention required to become well-rounded, healthy, and affectionate dogs that they would not otherwise receive in a shelter environment.

• Our commitment does not end when the dog is adopted. Path of Hope offers post adoption owner support including information on making the dog’s transition to your home a smooth one; recommendations for Preferred Trainers; advice on pet behavior and wellness topics; Facebook litter groups to keep in touch with fellow adopters; and invitations to local rescue hosted events.
