Meet Shaggy

Looking for a loyal sidekick?! Shaggy and his ears are what you’ve been waiting for!

Shaggy is an approximately 4-month old male Cattle Dog mix who will weigh around 35-40 lbs. as an adult (best guess). This happy go lucky guy, with ears as big as his body doesn’t know what a bad day is. While we believe he has herding breed in him, as he’s gotten older his herding tendencies have settled a bit. He LOVES to play and really has no off switch, so an active four-legged companion would be great for him. If a family is committed to his training and activity, a single dog home will be considered, but it will need to be the absolute perfect fit and activity level - Shaggy doesn’t know lazy.

Shaggy is a very smart pup and listens very well, but he’s all puppy so he forgets very fast too…haha! Shaggy loves life and all things puppy – toys, bones, cats, dogs – you name it and he’s there for a good time! He loves all dogs and tends to do better with bigger dogs. He can be a bit of a bully with smaller dogs – not mean at all, but he has no off switch. A larger, patient dog to help him learn the ways of the world would be great for him! He is very fond of the resident cat in his foster home – maybe a little too much, as the cat that he currently lives with is very tolerant to Shaggy and his shenanigans. He will need a home with a laid back cat or one that will help to teach him cats don’t play like dogs.

Shaggy is still very young and working on house training, but doing great! He is great in a kennel and does not like to make a mess. He is very treat motivated, which makes training easier with Shaggy. He is just starting to understand a leash so he will need some work understanding walks and leashes. Shaggy can be rambunctious and very puppy playful, nipping from time to time so he would not be a good fit for a home with small children. He’s working to learn the no bite rule, but he’s still young and will take time to understand.

As already stated, Shaggy is very smart. He learns well from more mature dogs too – others in his foster home have helped him master “sit” because he is great about following their lead, and actually looks to them for guidance. If you are looking for an adventure buddy, a smart, yet young dog that you want to work with to learn all the things – Shaggy is your dude! He’s funny, he’s cute, he’s smart – he’s all the things you look for in a lifetime companion!

Shaggy is neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $225.
