The Laid-Back Lovebug Who Just Wants to Be With Her People

Meet Shadow, the 70-pound shepherd mix who’s equal parts gentle giant and goofy sweetheart. At 4-5 years old, this lovely lady has perfected the art of lounging and loving, making her the ideal companion for anyone looking for a low-maintenance, affectionate pup who’s always up for cuddles.

Shadow is a people-pleaser through and through. She adores humans of all ages, from toddlers to adults, and currently lives with children under 10 with zero complaints. Whether it’s hanging out on the patio, soaking up some love during a brushing session, or just napping near her favorite humans, Shadow thrives when she’s part of the action (or relaxation).

With an energy level that’s a chill 2/10, Shadow is the queen of laid-back living. She enjoys short walks, a bit of outdoor play, and then she’s ready to wind down for snuggles on the couch. She’s crate-trained, but storms make her a little nervous—during thunder, she just wants to be near her people for reassurance. A thunder jacket or cozy, secure spot will help her feel safe during those moments.

Shadow gets along well with other dogs but is a bit particular about her friends, so slow and thoughtful introductions are key. She’s great at communicating her boundaries, and once she’s comfortable, she’s an easygoing companion. If she’s your only dog, she’ll happily soak up all the love herself.

Now, about that fence-jumping rumor. Let’s be clear: Shadow isn’t trying to escape for the sake of running off—she just wants to be close to her people. As long as she’s not left unattended, she’s perfectly content staying in her yard. Give her a secure space and some human companionship, and she’ll be your shadow in every sense of the word.

Shadow is the whole package: affectionate, playful, and incredibly intuitive. She bonds deeply with her family and thrives in a home where love and routine are the priorities. Shadow is currently being fostered in Texas and will be transported to her forever home by our rescue! We have transports departing each week!
