Senior Hearts Rescue and Renewal is the only licensed senior dog rescue organization in Western Pennsylvania. We do not have a shelter or a public facility. ALL of our dogs reside in foster homes in the greater Pittsburgh, PA area.

We are a 100% volunteer organization. Please respect our volunteers' time. If a dog is listed on PetFinder, he/she IS available for adoption. We cannot reply to messages, phone calls, and emails about a dog until we have received, reviewed, and approved an adoption application.

Completing this application is the first step in our adoption screening process. You MUST complete the application in its entirety in order to be considered as a potential adopter. Please select "More About Us" for further details on our adoption requirements. You can meet a dog ONLY after we have completed our adoption approval process.

And now a few words from Shadow:

I am 12 years young and weigh about 14 pounds.

I'm a very friendly boy who likes every person I've ever met. I promise to greet you with my tail wagging when we meet.

I'm an active guy who super enjoys my walks. I'm a good walker and I like to get some distance in. I'm not a guy who is happy with a little stroll in a yard or around a block. I need proper walks. That means I need humans that like to go on long walks also. Oh- I have very good leash manners. Good boy to me!

I also enjoy being outside to explore and get sniffs in. If you had a yard I'd run around and play fetch with you. I don't require a yard though. I'm happy to run around and play fetch indoors.
I like other dogs and even cats.

I appreciate having loyal human companions. If you worked from home I promise I will do a good job supervising your zoom calls.

Or if you were an active retiree, we could go on long jaunts to the coffee shop, building materials store, or to a park for new hikes. I'm an excellent supervisor for those projects around the home.

I'm in great health. However I have a big heart and have to take medicine for that for the rest of my life.
