Serius Black

Serius Black is a very special dog at YVAS. He came to us over the winter, a frightened dog who didn't trust people too much. We found out that he originally came from a sled dog rescue in Colorado. Since he came to YVAS, Serius has been in foster care where he learned to walk on a leash and became mostly potty trained. He was then adopted but when his dog buddy moved out, Serius decided he wanted to move in with the dogs down the street and kept digging out. Serius loves to play with other dogs but plays rough and doesn't wear out so he can only live with a dog that likes to play the way he does. Sled dogs are bred for stamina and that is exactly what Serius has, whether it be play or exercise, he just never gets enough. We are looking for a special kind of home for Serius, one where his new guardian is an athlete. When Serius gets bored, he escapes so he needs a guardian that understands his mental and physical needs. Serius, as a sled dog with a high metabolism, also has a difficult time keeping weight on so he needs to be fed several times a day with special digestive enzymes. We are reluctant to adopt Serius to a country home since he looks so much like a wolf, we worry that if he escapes he might be killed. O.K... that said, Serius is a really wonderful dog. He is friendly with everyone he meets, beautiful beyond words, silly , playful, good with cats and probably dog savy kids.
