September American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix San Diego, CA

This super happy-go-lucky girl is 6 year-old September. September arrived at the shelter as a stray on 9/3/2020, but is safe with us now. When she arrived at the shelter as a stray, she was terrified and depressed, preferring to lay in a corner of her stall and avoid anyone who tried to get her attention. Over time, though, shelter staff earned her trust and saw a much happier, confident pup!

The transformation that started while stuck at the shelter has blossomed now that September is in a loving home! She has settled in quite nicely with her foster family and is super friendly with all people she interacts with. In fact, whenever anybody comes over to the house, September will be in their laps within minutes demanding attention!

As far as kids go, September is currently living with 8 and 10 year old boys. She enjoys playing with them and snuggling with them just like anyone else. A home with small children might not be ideal, as she is very playful and loves to run full speed and then jump on and off the couch with no regard to anyone in her way. However, September has met the neighbors’ 4 year-old multiple times on walks and sits calmly and enjoys pets from her.

While September can live with other dogs and has done great with other dogs at the shelter, it would require an experienced family that can recognize and manage the external stimuli that can get September excited. Otherwise, would be best for her to be the only dog.

She loves to play fetch and will drop the toy at your feet when the command “out” is given. She is also doing well with other commands such as sit, stay, come, kennel, etc. Additionally, she is crate-trained as well. However, her absolute favorite thing to do is cuddle! She loves snuggling up to any human nearby and if there is any little space for her to squish any closer to you, she will take the opportunity.
