Meet Scrappy

Please contact Lowell Nelson ( for more information about this pet. It's how I like to play!SCRAPPY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Scrappy Best Guess for Breed: Terrier/Lab Mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of 5/4/24 Gender: Male
Approximate Weight: 18 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs; not sure about cats or kids yet, but we can find out!
Currently Living At: Shelter--needs a foster or forever home!
Special Adoption Considerations: Scrappy is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Scrappy is Looking For: A loving family who can keep up with a scrappy guy like me! I'm ready to burst into your life with lots of running and playing, and cuddling once I've worn myself (and you) out! I'll probably need a little help learning some manners, but I promise to be an attentive student! Will you take me home?
What My Foster Says About Me: Updates when he arrives in DC!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
