Meet Scout - in New England Foster!

Update - 7/14!:
Scout is now attending group dog training classes which is a big step for her and is able to warm up to most new people in the house after 5 minutes (still lots of barking though). She is a work in progress, and she is trying very hard. She is so worth the extra effort it has taken to get her to this point!

————————

Scout is a sweet, playful, and beautiful 2 yrs old Shepherd/Shiba Inu mix.

She loves to give kisses to her people, play fetch, keep away, chew toys, and tug of war. She also loves running water so much she will try to join you in the shower! She is very smell-oriented and loves to sniff everything! She is very smart and knows sit, stay, come, go to bed, jump and spin. She is also house and crate trained and rides well in the car. She can go on walks on the leash, but prefers short familiar routes without too many encounters with cars or strangers.

Scout is anxious around strangers and will bark at new people in the house for 2-10 minutes until she gets comfortable with them - she warms up faster with the help of treats and the new person in the house being nice and calm.

We think she would do best in a quiet home with only adult children. She would be fine as an only dog or with another dog companion. She is friendly with cats.
She would love a home with a back yard as she gets nervous and walks encountering strange people and cars. She would be quite content just getting her excercise by playing in the house and in the back yard.

Scout is blind in her right eye. When she was 7 months old she had a procedure to control pressure in her eye. Being blind in her right eye has not slowed her down one bit and she can do everything a pup with 2 eyes can do.

Scout MUST stay on flea/tick prevention. She is allergic to fleas and will break out in a rash and her hair will fall out.

Because Scout is in a local foster home, she is available for meet and greets with potential adopters and their current pets once we have received a completed adoption application.
