Scout is a fun-loving mini Australian Shepherd who is ready for his forever home. He is about 9 months old, a couple of pounds too thin at 22 pounds, and he has a pretty red merle coat and a full tail. Scout is housebroken, crate-trained and has just started to learn some obedience commands. Scout’s leash-walking skills are quickly improving – he is one smart puppy!
Scout adores people. He can be shy and even a bit fearful when he first meets someone new, but if that person will sit on the ground with him he will melt in their lap. Scout is a high Velcro young guy who loves to be close to his people. Whether it is going for a walk, assisting in the kitchen, exploring in the yard, playing with toys or even getting a bath, everything is exciting and fun when he is with his humans. Scout also loves to play with other dogs of all sizes. He LOVES to play chase (inside or outside!), and he does such a nice job matching his speed and play style with the ages and sizes of his playmates. And typical of a puppy, once Scout has played so much that he is exhausted, a nap at the feet of his human is the best thing ever! Scout has been exposed to dog-savvy cats and he is fine with them.
The ideal home for Scout is fun and active, shared with a family who will include him in their many activities and continue his obedience training. Scout loves the outdoors, and a family that walks, hikes, explores - perfect! A fenced yard and another playful dog would be amazing, children over the age of 10 are welcome, and dog-savvy cats are OK with him. Scout is excited about life, and if you are ready to show him how much fun the world can be apply today! Scout is fostered in Washington, DC.
