Meet Scout
Hi, my name is Scout! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Intelligent, active/adventure sidekick, people-oriented, a little fearful/unsure in new situations
-Can Live with Kids: Kids ages 16+
-Can Live with Cats: No
-Can Live with Dogs: I could potentially live with a MELLOW dog that respects my space and doesn't push my buttons. Our initial introduction will need to happen here at the shelter.
-Can do Apartment Living: No
-Breed Experience Required: No, but prior dog experience required for adoption
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, one or three private lessons (depending on adopter experience)
-Energy Level: High
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: No
-Additional Information: Scout was surrendered to us for becoming a little too protective of his family. He can also be a little fearful in new situations. These fearful behaviors were likely exacerbated by the corrective-based training methods used in his previous home. Scout will need someone who can be patient with him while he learns how to trust again, and who is willing to work on positive reinforcement based training. Though it takes him a little while to warm up to new people, Scout will likely bond hard to his new person/family. He is VERY affectionate once he's comfortable and absolutely loves to play with toys (especially tennis balls!). The first step toward meeting with Scout is coming into the shelter and filling out an application.
