Meet Scooter

Ready to share her story, meet Scooter! ?

I was a surrender to the shelter. It is hard to believe, but I was. My owners had too many pets and since I jumped their 5ft chainlink fence, they ended up surrendering me to the shelter. I guess things have a way of working out, though. The shelter contacted this rescue about me, and before I knew it I was being welcomed to their fluffy butt family!

My name is Scooter and I am a 10-12-month-old, 37lb female Rough Collie. I am a very sweet and smart girl. I have a calmer personality, but also playful moments. I love to grab a good bone to chew on. Other times, I will come on the couch to cuddle with my fosters. I really have a fantastic personality!

Below you will find what my foster has to say about me

"Scooter is an amazing girl. She fit right into our household. She does great with other dogs but is also indifferent to them. Within the first few hours, she had already grabbed a bone and carried it to the doggie bed to chew on it. She is potty trained and has excellent house manners. We can give her free-roam of the house, even when we are gone. She is very intuitive and will sit right in front of you and gentle give you her paw. She loves attention but isn't pushy about it. She does love being close to you and loves cuddling on the couch with you. She adjusts to new environments very quickly, and will make an amazing addition to any family! ♥ "

??To My New Family (Part 1) ??
While you were reading what my foster had to say, I have compiled a list of some things that my potential family should know about me.

? I do excellent when meeting new people. I tend to go right up to people for pets. Sometimes I do want to give hugs, but since I am on the smaller side they are pretty gentle. I have not been to any public outings but did fine at my vet visit.

?I have not shown to be a big chewer in my foster home. I have played with some toys, mainly the bones. I am unsure if I would play fetch with my family or not. When I am outside, I love running around and exploring. I am unsure if I am a water dog or not.

? I know food aggression and resource guarding are common with rescue dogs. I have not shown signs of having either in my foster home. It is important that this is something my family be aware of and still monitor should they have other dogs in my new home. Always better to be prepared just in case ?

? I am good with other dogs. I am mostly indifferent to them. Meaning I don't really care if they are in my new home or not. Once I settle into my new home, I may play with them here and there.

? I am being fostered around cats and do great with them.

? I have not been around any kids so am unsure how I would do with them.

?I am potty trained but NOT kennel trained. When my foster is gone, I have free-roam of the house and do great.

? Given my personality, I believe that I would do fine in an apartment setting. With that said, my new family would still need to have a good exercise plan in place. I walk well on a leash but could use a little more working with it. I seem to do well on car rides, as well.

?My last family reported that I could jump a 5ft chainlink fence. Because of this, my new family will need a 6ft privacy fence or higher.

?I am being fostered in Kiowa, OK. We do not send our dogs on transports or ship them. This means my new family needs to pick me up, even if they are out of state.

?My adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.

??To My New Family (Part 2) ??
If I have stolen your heart then please read on to make sure you are the right fit for me!

My ideal home would be one that has lots of love to give! I would be fine in a calmer or more active home. I would be fine with or without other dogs. I will need tall privacy fencing in my new home. Mainly, I just want a home where I can truly be part of the family. One that will take me on trips with them, and let me cuddle with them on the couch.
