Scooby (Foster Needed)'s Story
Scooby | Pit Bull Terrier Mix | DOB: 10.28.2023 | 50 pounds | Dog Selective | Older Kids | No Cats |

Scooby-Dog, Where Are You?
Right here, waiting for someone to adopt him and love him forever.
Scooby’s early life wasn’t filled with mystery-solving or Scooby snack-sharing like the cartoon dog he shares his name with. Instead, he was owned by a hoarder who then abandoned him as a puppy in a garage with other dogs. Scooby and the other dogs were left to scavenge for scraps and do anything just to survive. And while it might sound better that he wasn’t alone, it meant he had to fight for everything. There was competition for food, water, and the occasional “treasure” (a torn blanket, a quiet corner, a moment of peace). Zoinks! Scooby’s life was like one of those spooky Scooby-Doo mysteries: dark, confusing, and full of shadows, only this time there was no gang to pull off the mask and rescue him… until now.
Rescued by Lucci’s and now safe in foster care, Scooby has become a certified snuggle bug. When Scooby curls up with his human, it’s like watching Scooby-Doo leap into Shaggy’s arms. Scooby just loves his humans. He greets them like they’ve returned from a haunted mansion, tail wagging, eyes shining, body wiggling with joy. But Scooby still carries the weight of his past, and it shows in how he interacts with other dogs. He can be nervous, defensive, and sometimes reactive with other dogs. But he’s trying. He’s learning. And his recall is fantastic, a real “Ruh-roh!” recovery tool when things get tense. But Scooby doesn’t have to live with other dogs as he plays solo like a champ, tossing toys, zooming around, entertaining himself with Scooby-worthy antics. However, despite his nervousness and defensive nature with other dogs, he truly, really loves roughhousing with a trusted dog friend. It just takes time. Trust isn’t instant when you’ve had to fight for survival. And when it’s bedtime or snuggle time with his human? That’s sacred. No other pup allowed, even his trusted friends. It’s not negotiable. That’s Scooby’s special moment. Something he never had before, and something he’s not about to share. Honestly who can blame him.
When Scooby goes for a walk, he can pull like he’s chasing ghosts or maybe just the scent of a Scooby Snack on the breeze. But he’s learning that walks aren’t a race to the next mystery. However, pottying while on leash is a no-go. Imagine trying to potty while someone’s holding a leash and watching you like you’re about to unmask a villain. Can you blame him? Let’s be honest, doing your business while tethered and watched feels pretty spooky. Just give him a fenced yard and some privacy, and he’s golden.
Scooby isn’t perfect. But he’s perfectly worth it. Even though everyone loves a good Scooby-Doo mystery, Scooby is not a mystery to solve. He’s just a pup to love. Scooby’s just looking for his Shaggy: a loyal, best friend who’ll stick by his side through thick and thin, share snacks, and remind him that he’ll never be abandoned again.
