Meet Schatzi!

Hello!
I am writing to tell you about a dog that is currently available for adoption. Her name is Schatzi (German for sweetheart) and she is 9.5 years old (purebred German Shepherd). My parents got her as a puppy but about a year ago felt they could no longer care for her. She was an outdoor dog with them and kept on a lead during the day/put in a dog house at night. I adopted her from them last January to prevent her from going into a shelter. My goal was to essentially be a foster home for her until I could find a great forever home for her.
She is a full time indoor dog with me. She is very well behaved and has a mild temperament. She hardly ever barks, does not jump, is completely housebroken and does not chew/destroy things. As an older dog, she sleeps for the majority of the day and enjoys just relaxing and being near people. She loves being indoors and playing with her stuffed toys. She does great on a leash but has an extreme aversion to being on a lead/zip line now that she has experienced life off of one. She does great in a yard too but I am hoping that in her future home she will never be left on a lead/zip line as I think she suffers from severe anxiety associated with this due to her history.

She is in great health, spayed and up-to-date on all vaccines.

She has temporarily lived with other pets and has done well with other dogs. That being said, she has shown some aggression to other dogs before as well (barking at them). It's unpredictable which dogs she will adapt well to and which she will not like. Overall I would say she definitely functions best as an only pet. She has done well with other dogs in group settings like dog daycare and boarding.
