HISTORY:
Savannah came to us from an animal control facility. Her owner had to surrender her because she was too active for them to be able to care for.

Savannah is incredibly affectionate and will try to convince you to touch and pet her at every opportunity. She loves to be close to her people and does not respect personal space. Savannah is a typical small breed terrier. And will need a confident owner who is comfortable taking control and setting boundaries. Savannah’s foster mom said she has not had an accident and is even dedicated enough to go potty outside in the rain. She has also been given free roam of the house when no one is home and was well behaved and did not damage any items. Savannah thinks it is her job to bark at all passersby, so she will do best in a single family home or in a situation where this behavior can be controlled. Savannah is a high-energy girl who loves her walks. Her ideal home will be active and committed to providing her daily exercise to meet her needs. She does pull on leash so she will need some work on that, but she is excellent at doing a sit/stay at every single intersection.

Savannah can be very reactive towards strangers inside her home. Due to this reactive behavior we will not place her in homes with children younger than 16. She will also guard high value treats with a growl. When she is outside on leash she is much less reactive and is interested in receiving pets from strangers. Savannah has shown some guarding behavior and reactivity around other dogs so at this time we will only adopt her to homes without any other pets.

To help ensure permanent placement for Savannah she must be enrolled in basic training within 60 days of adoption. This may be a group or individual setting to cover at least 6 sessions.
