Sassy Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler Mix Neillsville, WI

Hi, my name is Sassy! I'm estimated to be a Heeler mix born around 5/14/2020. I came up to Wisconsin from Texas and weigh close to 50 pounds. I have been anything but sassy here! I'm very sweet and mellow. I'm a quiet girl and rarely bark.

I was adopted for a couple of weeks but brought back because the other dog in the home didn't care for me. My person gave me a glowing report and had this to say: "Sassy has lived in my home for 2 weeks & every day has been a pleasure. She is the calmest, most obedient 1 year old I have ever had the pleasure to meet. The star of the dog park, she plays hard or gently and even gets along with the ornery oldsters (walks away). She is working on fetching and sitting and never rushes through the vehicle/house door or jumps on people. She loads easily into the vehicle, never car sick, never jumps the seat. She knows her name & comes when called. Absolutely fantastic on a leash with a collar or halter (I prefer a halter for my dogs). Loves normal walks & especially enjoys the dog park. Loves laying in lounge chairs or couches but does not access if told gently no. Does well with thunderstorms, eats and takes treats daintily, has had no digestive issues with dog food. Loves all people and plays very well with children greater than 10 years. Since she is a 1 year old, she needs gentle, patient training with habits of nipping at a person's chin when super happy & rare chewing of shoes & cardboard. She adores petting. The groomer adored her and stated she was awesome although obviously unsure about her bath (especially the dryer). She was perfect for the groomer & for me with nail cutting. She behaved perfectly during her vet appointment. She is only afraid when human voices become loud or angry & I've found a gentle "no" is more than enough when needed during training. She has had no accidents in the house & has not "asked" to go out - instead patiently waits through the night. Loves large chew bones and super sturdy cotton squeak toys. But loves her human & the lounge chair best. Sadly, my first adopted dog who enjoys playing with her at the dog park, acts aggressively towards her in the house causing Sassy to become sad and anxious. Please, somebody out there adopt this very deserving dog."

My adoption fee is $100.00. Adoption applications can be filled out at CCHS or online through our website, www.cchs-petshelter.org. Applications are not first come, first served. All applications will be reviewed by the adoption committee and the home chosen will be the one considered to be the best match. All dogs and puppies have been vaccinated for Distemper and Bordetella, dewormed and microchipped. If old enough, they will be vaccinated for Rabies and blood tested for Heartworm, Lymes, Anaplasmosis and Erlichiosis. Dogs and puppies will be spayed or neutered before adoption.
