Meet Sandy - I am a Training School Graduate!
Hi I’m Sandy and I’m a ~2 year old, ~70 lb, Treeing Walker Coonhound mix. I am a training school graduate through GDRNE’s partnership with the Don’t Throw Us Away program. In this 8 week program, I have learned basic manners including sit, down, come, stay, off, leave it and of course, ‘no!’. I also have learned loose leash walking skills and proper mealtime manners and am crate and housetrained. I also know "right" and "left".I came to GDRNE as a pregnant stray, giving birth shortly after rescue. I have the softest fur and prettiest spots and would love some snuggle time with my humans. I’m a true hound girl so I love to be outside exploring with you! I am a higher energy dog, but with proper exercise, I settle down quite nicely in the house. I get along with men, women, older children & other dogs, am not afraid of strangers and even like the vet and cats I would make a great running or hiking partner and would love another dog to play with. I might even enjoy doggie day care to expend some of my energy and socialize with other canines. I would love a home with a fenced in yard because of my energy level and ‘hound’ nature. I’m not suited for city life or busy /noisy households because too many people and too much activity tends to stress me out. As a result, I’m not well suited to a home with young kids, even though I am ok with them when I meet them. If you’ve got a quiet, adult only home or a quiet home with young adults, and an active lifestyle, I’m your girl! I’m very playful, love to be petted and just want to be a treasured member of a family. Let’s explore the trails together! I’m spayed, microchipped and up to date on all my shots.
