Meet Samuel!

Samuel ...or as we call him Sam... is a stunningly handsome 2.5 y.o. working line bi-color who is very confident and smart! He is initially aloof when meeting new people and does better with men than with women – he’s a bit standoffish to women – and it takes time for him to warm up. Once he gets to know you, both men and women, he is your best buddy and seeks out your attention. He has come to love ALL the trainers and techs at the boarding kennel.

Sam has been to a professional board and train program, but his handlers did not keep up with his training. He is currently in training now to brush up on his obedience and become more social with new people. Adopters will be required to attend obedience training classes with Sam, so he can also become familiar with a new handler and promote bonding with that handler.

Sam lived with another GSD but does not do well with dogs he does not know. He is in training to learn to tolerate unknown dogs. Sam is not a dog park dog or daycare dog. He has not been exposed to cats but given his dog reactivity we do not think he would do well. We are looking for home where Sam would be the only pet but experienced GSD families who are willing to take the time and introduce slowly and properly to another dog will be considered on a case by case basis.

Sam has lived with a child but we do not know how much interaction he had with the child. Experienced GSD families with young dog-savvy children will be considered on a case by case basis.

The ideal home for Sam will be with a family experienced with working line GSDs who will be patient with him, maintain his training and give him a job. Sam absolutely flourishes when he has a job! Right now, his job is obedience!

Sam is UTD on vaccinations and microchipped. Sam will be neutered.

(Note: Sam and another GSD came from a tough divorce situation where the spouse that kept the home was unwilling to keep them. Both have been in a boarding kennel for an extended period and their owner has been unable to find suitable housing for him and the two GSDs.)
