Meet Sammy
Sammy just celebrated his 1st birthday on 10/22/22 and he got a yummy cake! He joined our rescue as a puppy where we helped him heal from demodex, parasites, malnourishment and dehydration. He turned into a chunky, healthy baby pretty quickly. Now he's about 65 lbs and likely full grown. He is up to date on all vaccines, is neutered and has been consistently on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
Sammy is described by his foster parents as a happy playful house hippo :) He is observant of new things and new people at first but once he sees other dogs getting love from new people then he's like "Hi, I'm here for love too!" He is really smart and is good at following the house rules. His booty slides on the floor when he sits for a treat so he's learned to run into his kennel and sit politely for dinner or treats.
If you think your family is too loud, too active and too big then this is the boy for you!! He thrives being surrounded by his family, especially kids and other dogs, who he can follow around all day. Although he doesn't mind a quiet house either so he can nap. No cats please - he likes them a bit too much... for lunch...
He loves his crate bedroom and sleeps there like a log overnight but also does well in bed with you or next to you in a bed on the floor. He is fully house-trained and is a dream on a leash. His foster mom can easily walk 3 dogs at once and Sammy just chills on her side. If he sees another person or dog on a walk then he wants to say Hi. He's working on the command "Leave it" for when he sees a squirrel since for most dogs that's when all common sense disappears for a moment.
