Sam's story is one we hear all too often, unfortunately. He was the apple of his daddy's eye and spoiled rotten. But, when Sam's elderly owner passed away, no one in the family was able to take the little dog in and give him a home. So now he's with us waiting hoping that he'll be adopted soon and once again, be someone's beloved fur baby. Sam was born on 7/22/16 and weighs 13-lbs. He is a very friendly and affectionate little dog that takes to everyone he meets. We were told by a relative of Sam's previous owner that Sam had his own room in his former home where he would stay when no one was at home and at nighttime. He's been around children as young as 4 years and 'loves them but gets excited." Sam loves to play with tennis balls "but won't always give them to you," will get into a garbage can if he thinks he can get away with it; can jump over a baby gate; loves car rides; loves walks but has to be on a leash if not confined by a structural fence; will bark to alert you when someone is at the door but is not a nuisance barker; and is trained to puppy pads inside but will also potty when taken outside on a regular and consistent schedule. Sam does well with other similar-sized dogs but has never been around cats (We'll be happy to do a "cat scan" upon request). This little guy is going to make some lucky adopter very happy. If you want that to be you, then stop by our shelter soon and ask to meet Sam! /// SAM IS SPONSORED THRU FEBRUARY 2020 BY CHRISTA PETERS.
