Our sweet and beautiful Sailor couldn't be more loving no matter how hard he tried. Sailor is a Poodle/Bichon mix with the sweetest personality and a positive energy that draws people to his side. He was absolutely the shelter favorite...and that means he always had a warm spot in the shelter office and many loving admirers that told him daily how wonderful and special he is.

At 6 months old, Sailor is just learning about the world. He's a blank slate that is soaking up the kind words and soft touches that he's experiencing for the first time. At just 7 lbs, Sailor is the perfect size to be a cuddly lap dog...and when it's walk or play time, he's ready with a wagging tail and a huge smile across his beautiful face.

We have so much to learn from the resilience of dogs. While Sailor has had challenging experiences in this world, he is now safe and sound…never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all…Sailor doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since he's so young, Sailor is open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with his family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Sailor and his people. Together they will learn the skills to have Sailor be a dog that is well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. As is evident in his photos, Sailor has cherry eye. Cherry eye is a disorder of the nicitating membrane (NM), also called the third eyelid, present in the eyes of dogs and cats. Cherry eye is most often seen in young dogs under the age of two. This condition causes the gland to prolapse and protrude from the eye. We've been in contact with our Denver vet to arrange surgery for Sailor (this condition can readily be fixed through surgery). We've helped provide relief to many young dogs with cherry eye...all have gone on to enjoy lives free of this extremely uncomfortable condition. We're happy to cover all costs for this procedure if our Denver vet is used.

Sailor is a fun-loving guy who looks ahead to a wonderful future of adventures with his forever family. Somehow Sailor came out of the shelter with high self-esteem. H's a well-adjusted guy who seems to fit in no matter where he lands. Sailor's eyes widen a bit as he takes in the new sights and sounds of his foster home while he waits for his transport to Denver...with love (hugs and kisses are awesome), respect and of course some great treats, Sailor is on his way to his foster mom's lap!

Sailor is a guy that loves to come along.....be it to a dog-friendly workplace, on vacation or just socializing…Sailor would love to be there as a best friend. He has such a pleasant personality and, at 7 lbs, is very portable and low-maintenance.

At home, Sailor would be fine with sharing his family with other dogs. As long as they're gentle and very respectful of his smaller size...he enjoys his time with them.

We envision Sailor in a home that will provide him with exercise and mental stimulation…other dogs help that effort with play and socialization. Sailor would be overjoyed with walking (or with a view from above tucked into a back (or front pack) through the beautiful Colorado mountains. He's the perfect size to come along and would thoroughly enjoy his time with his people in the sunshine.

Sailor wouldn't be content spending long hours alone…he's far too people-oriented to be happy with that lifestyle. A retired couple or individual or a person who works from home would be great. Sailor would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being just a young guy, he'd also learn that he's loved and cared for…a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog.

There are many, many Poodle and Bichon lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be two of the most desirable breeds available today.This is due to their consistently great temperaments and super- intelligence.There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their stunning non-shedding coats (considered to be two of the most hypoallergenic breeds available today) and their soft, expressive eyes

Farfel's has requested that Sailor be neutered prior to his arrival in Colorado. Since this area of New Mexico has very few vets, this may not be possible. Since Sailor will be getting cherry eye surgery shortly after his arrival in Denver, it will be a good time to neuter/microchip him as well. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs at our vet in Denver for these procedures.
