Meet Sadie

Hi, my name is Sadie! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Sensitive, loyal, affectionate, a little anxious and unsure but learning to trust!
-Can Live with Kids: No, Sadie needs an adult-only home.
-Can Live with Cats: Sadie's previous owner reports that she has a high prey drive, and for this reason will need a feline-free home.
-Can Live with Dogs: No, see below for details.
-Can do Apartment Living: The commotion of apartment life may be a little too much for Sadie, and she would really prefer a home where she won't have to worry about neighbors, strangers, and other unpredictable things. Exceptions may be made for certain apartment-styles, like condos with separate entry. Please read below or ask customer service for further questions on the best suited home environment for Sadie.
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, at least one private lesson
-Energy Level: Medium
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: No
-Additional Information: Sadie is a sensitive dog who has been bounced around from home to home a LOT over the past few years. She lived with a single woman for most of her life (from when she was 3months-7 yrs old), before the woman realized she could no longer provide Sadie with the life she deserved. Sadie was then surrendered to a rescue in Texas, bounced around in a few foster homes, then transferred to ANOTHER Texas rescue, then transferred to YET ANOTHER rescue who drove her all the way from Texas to Washington. Unfortunately the Washington-based rescue did not set Sadie up for success, allowing her to be fostered in multi-dog households even with prior history/instructions that Sadie needed to be an "only child". Unfortunately, this oversight led to Sadie cause injury to another dog in the home, at which point the rescue decided they could no longer be responsible for her, which brings us to now.
With all this prior history, we will be very particular in the type of home environment we place Sadie into. Especially considering all that she's been through over the past few years, Sadie deserves a loving, dedicated home that understands her needs and can commit to investing in her future. Sadie really needs to be the "only child", the star of the show, the apple of your eye! This means no other dogs, cats, small animals, or children. Sadie is not going to be a dog who can join you on all your errands and activities-- she will not do well at busy Saturday markets, or in populated parks or trails. Her ideal home environment is one where she can lounge around the house with her people, getting her exercise by playing fetch in the yard or reserving a "Sniff Spot" from time to time! Sadie is very much in tune with her humans, although it does take her a bit to get used to new ones. She would THRIVE in a low-traffic home, with 1-2 people who prefer relaxing around the house reading a book rather than throwing big parties. New situations and people are pretty overwhelming for this anxious girl, and she may not ever get used to the idea of trying too many new things. She's really just looking for that special someone who understands her quirks and won't push her past her comfort zone. Sadie is an incredibly loving girl who just needs someone to remind her that she's loved, cared for, and valued as a member of the family.
