Ryder's Story
Hi there! I’m Ryder: a 9-lb, 2-year-old Shih Tzu mix powered by pure silliness and an endlessly wagging tail. If joy had a sound, it would be my tail thumping against everything in sight.

I’m a sweet, affectionate little guy who is just discovering how fun being a dog can really be. I’ve had a lot of changes in my life recently, so I’m looking for a calm, cozy home where I can decompress, feel safe, and let my goofy personality truly shine. When you bring me home, get ready for zoomies, toy tossing, and my personal favorite activity: fetching tiny stuffies like it’s my full-time job.

I’m learning all the big-boy skills right now, including walking on a leash and going to the groomer. I’m crate trained and sleep through the night without pottying in my kennel (gold star for me). I am still unneutered, so I can be a bit prone to marking, but after my neuter on January 20th, that behavior should fade. I’ll just need a patient family who can give me structure, consistency, and lots of praise when I potty outside. Treats help too. Obviously.

I’d thrive in a home with less chaos and more one-on-one love. I’m looking for people who understand rescue pups, move at my pace, and are excited to help me grow into the happy, confident little companion I’m meant to be.

If you’re searching for a loyal sidekick, a professional toy fetcher, and a dog whose tail may actually achieve liftoff… I might just be your guy.

I've had my first round of adult vaccinations, have been dewormed, am heartworm negative, and am on heartworm preventative. I will be neutered and microchipped on January 20th and will be available to bring home 5 days later. The sanctuary is accepting applications now!

**Important**

The cost to adopt is $250 and the adoption process begins with an Adoption Application that is located at: www.faithfulfriendsnc.org/adopt

Once your completed application has been reviewed the humans will contact you with questions and/or set an appointment for you to meet me. Thank you! Please read all guidelines before sending in an application. Do not reach out to the sanctuary about the status of your application, we will contact you if we are interested in setting up an appointment.
