Ruthie Mastiff Mix Charlotte, NC

Meet Ruthie, she is single and looking to find her forever home. Ruthie is a 4 1/2 month old Mastiff Mix. She has had a really rough first few months of her life. Ruthie and her siblings were surrendered to the shelter during a welfare check where they were found to be emaciated, dehydrated, covered in fleas, full of worms and under socialized. Her tail was broken at some point and not treated which has left her with a permanent bend. This does not seem to bother her though! Ruthie is on the mend now. She has been treated for a bad roundworm infection and starting to gain some weight. We are pretty certain that she had to fight for every morsel at her previous home so she can be a resource guarder and is still worried about when she will get her next meal. We think at this time that Ruthie would do best as an only dog where she wouldn’t be worried about competing for food. *Considerations will be made to experienced adopters who are well versed in food aggression and resource guarding.* Ruthie can be a little shy at first but loves to be with her human once she warms up. She’s been her foster mom’s shadow. House and crate training have been going well. She’s not a big fan of her crate but will settle down after a few minutes. Ruthie will need an adopter that is prepared for puppyhood! She will need someone willing and able to continue her training whether through experience or through a professional. She will need someone who has the time and patience to allow her to grow and someone who is committed to exposing her to different situations in order to increase her socialization skills. Ruthie is scheduled to be spayed and microchipped in the beginning of October and will be required to keep that appointment. Ruthie is currently 22 lbs and will be a LARGE dog when full grown.
